Become a candidate!

The National Youth Committee is looking for Finnish Red Cross members between ages 15 and 28 to run for its 2024–2026 term. The candidates are expected to have:

  • experience of the activities of the Red Cross,
  • interest in developing the activities of the Red Cross,
  • desire to promote the position of young people in the Red Cross,
  • competence and courage to act and speak for young people, and
  • an opportunity to commit to a position of trust for a three-year term.

Additionally, the candidates elected for the Youth Committee must meet the qualification criteria set for elected officials of the Finnish Red Cross in the FRC Decree (chapter 3, sections 19 and 20).

You can run for the next term of the Finnish Red Cross’s National Youth Committee by filling in this form by 11 September 2023.

Information on the Youth Committee and its election

One Chair, one Vice-Chair, five members and a maximum of five deputy members will be elected for the National Youth Committee. You can run for the Chair, Vice-Chair and/or member of the Youth Committee in the elections. So you can become a candidate for any and all of these positions! The positions you are running for must be reported using the candidate form by 11 September. The candidate must fill in the application form by him/herself.

The Youth Committee elections will be held online 4–5 October 2023. In the elections, the districts’ representatives with voting power will first vote for the Chair of the Youth Committee, next the Vice-Chair and finally the five members. The candidates with the most votes will be proposed to be elected to the duties.

The voting results of the election will be submitted to the Board of the Finnish Red Cross, which will decide on the composition and duties of the National Youth Committee. The working methods of the National Youth Committee will be agreed on after the Board has decided on establishing the committee.

Election debate

Remember to mark down the election debate of the National Youth Committee's election in your calendar, for 1 October 2023 1 pm–3 pm. As a candidate, you can take part in the election debate from your own home. You will need a computer or a mobile device for the election debate, allowing you to join in the broadcasted debate. The device should have a microphone and preferably also a camera. Instructions for the debate will be given to you closer to the date, and you will also have the chance to test your network connection and devices before the debate. The election debate is broadcasted online as a public event that will be recorded. The recording can be viewed after the election debate on the SPRNuoret social media channels (likely in YouTube).
