Principles for the nomination of candidates for official positions
When nominating candidates for official positions, the candidates must be required to commit to the basic principles of the Red Cross and they must have the desire to promote the realisation of the organisation's purpose. Furthermore, the representation of different regions, languages, sexes and age groups must be taken into account as accurately as possible in the composition of the organs of the Red Cross.
Section 20
Eligibility and term of elected officials
Only human members of the organisation may be elected to an official position in the organisation, excluding the positions of auditors, performance auditors and council representatives assigned by state officials. A person elected to an official position must be enrolled at the branch in question, or in the case of a district, at a branch that operates within the district. An employee of the organisation may not be an elected official of the organisation.
An elected official of the organisation must be at least 15 years of age.
A person who is bankrupt or banned from conducting business operations or whose competency has been restricted cannot function as an elected official of the organisation.
A person elected to an official position must have adequate competence and experience with regard to the scope and responsibilities of the position in question.
A human member may not be elected to both the council and the organisation's board for the same term.
The term of elected officials chosen by the general assembly begins right after the assembly is over and continues until the next general assembly ends.
For elected officials in branches and districts, the beginning and end of their terms is defined in the rules of their branch or district.
