Safety during the campaign
In all our activities, we adhere to the principles of creating a safer space. There is zero tolerance for discrimination, racism, and any other inappropriate behavior at all events and channels during the Week Against Racism. Inappropriate behavior may result in removal from the event, deletion of inappropriate messages, or other necessary measures to maintain a safer space.
The Seven Principles of a Safer Space by Finnish Red Cross
- Be Open - Approach new people and things without prejudice. See each encounter as an opportunity to learn and grow.
- Respect - Pay attention to your choice of words and value others' opinions. Do not mock, embarrass, or judge anyone with your words or actions.
- Create a Positive Atmosphere - Take responsibility for others' experiences as well. Listen, compliment, and encourage.
- Avoid Assumptions - Do not make assumptions based on external characteristics, skin color, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, or speech. Do not assume gender, background, or ability.
- Give Space - Respect others' personal space, privacy, and autonomy. Ensure that everyone is heard and give everyone the opportunity to participate.
- Intervene - Do not stand by if you witness harassment or any other inappropriate treatment.
- Enjoy - Have fun! Ask if something puzzles you and find out about it.
