Summer Days Encourages youths to be prepared

What does it mean when we say that the Red Cross is prepared to provide aid? How can I contribute to Red Cross’s preparedness?

The national Youth Summer Days are held June 15–17 at the Ruissalo camping area in Turku. We want to invite all youths who are at least 13 years old to join us to learn about the Red Cross and to spend a fun weekend with great people. Between Friday and Sunday, the participants can look forward to training, presentations regarding our operation, urban orienteering, cheering at the Finnish First Aid Championship in the center of Turku, games, campfires, and other summertime activities. We offer the participants the opportunity to improve their first aid skills and get to know the Red Cross as a voluntary disaster prepardness organization. The preliminary program for the camp can be found as an attachment at the bottom of the page.

On Saturday, the participants can choose the workshop that most interests them from various topics, such as:

- The Red Cross emergency teams
- The Voluntary Rescue Service (Vapepa)
- Could you cope for 72 hours in an abnormal situation on your own?
- First aid by playing a game
- The international disaster aid by the Finnish Red Cross
- Basic friend activity training and online friend activities
- Courageous influencing and communication

For presentation of the workshops scroll down to the attachments.

How much does the camp cost?

For members who register before April 20, the participation fee is €25 (€37 for those who are not members of the Finnish Red Cross). If you register between April 21 and May 11, the participation fee is €35 for members (€47 for non-members). The price includes the entire program, all meals from lunch on Friday to breakfast on Sunday, and lodging from Friday to Sunday. The Summer Camp lodging consists of Red Cross tents and the programming is primarily organized outside.

“Recruit five friends and your participation in the Summer Camp is free!”

For each friend you recruit (non-member), you receive a €5 discount. Your friends use the same form to register for the camp and provide your name on the form.

You can participate only one day, inform that on the registration form! The participation fee is the same as for the whole event.

The camp is invoiced later according to the invoicing information provided during registration.
