"Youth Delegate Training 2016"

Finnish Red Cross organizes annually a Basic Training Course for Youth Delegates. After completing the training, the participants join the Finnish Red Cross youth delegate reserve.

The last Youth Delegate Training was organized in May 2019. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 training was cancelled. The next training was planned to be held in 2021.

As the public health situation continues to be dire, youth delegate missions and trainings are currently on hold.

The youth delegate training provides the participants with a deeper understanding on the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement and volunteering and youth activities within the RCRC Movement. The training develops the participants’ understanding on the youth delegate’s leadership role within the Finnish Red Cross and their competencies for working abroad as a youth delegate.

Trained youth delegates play an important role in the Finnish Red Cross domestic programming and organizational development. Youth delegates volunteer in diverse domestic activities, focusing on organizing activities, leading volunteer groups and branches, as well as developing the organization and its programming.

Youth delegates can apply to participate in international camps, trainings and events representing the Finnish Red Cross. Youth delegates also have an opportunity to apply for open youth delegate positions abroad. International youth delegate missions focus usually on supporting our sister Red Cross or Red Crescent National Societies, especially in what comes to developing volunteering and youth activities. Please note that youth delegate positions are created to meet the needs of sister National Societies; we cannot guarantee an international mission to all trained youth delegates.

Prerequisites for applicants

  • you are between 18 and 28 years of age
  • you speak fluent English
